Comments

The biggest weakness of this dataset is that it is published monthly only in separate CSV files for each month. It does contain spatial coordinate information, though there does appear to be some flaws in the geocoding with numerous ungeocoded reports and way out of jurisdiction locations.

The detail is fairly high, with exact address and CAD call locations included.

There is no metadata detailing the different fields. There is no API, as the format is CSV only. Summaries are in PDF format alongside the CSVs.

One enormous structural weakness is that the CSVs are requested via POST form with an encrypted parameter. There is no way to get a permanent link to any given CSV, so the CSV files must be manually downloaded and processed.

Overall, this publication is relatively strong on openness, but poor on usability.
