There are many overlapping transportation entities that service LA City. Its own Department of Transportation (DOT) is what I chose to document. It has real-time bus information with timetables, routes, and a live map. Other agencies, most notably Metro, have some of the same features, but it's unclear to what extent. There appears to be no readily available data about bus and train routes that includes documented instances of things like wait times, passenger use by individual line/route, etc. Instead, they have aggregated numbers about total passengers (broken up by a specific time frame) or fleet numbers, among other things. None of that appears on the lone data set available on the Data LA website, which contains only the bus stops for all Metro routes.
